HOW TO USE THE ACCOUNTS ON YOUR HORNET CARD
The Hornet Card enables students to access three separate accounts: Buzz Bucks, Meal Plan and Flex Dollars. Each account must be funded prior to use and has unique rules for acceptance and the rollover of funds
Buzz Bucks is a prepaid spending account offering a safe and convenient way to make purchases on and off campus. It is designed to eliminate the need to carry cash or other cards. On campus, Buzz Bucks is accepted as a form of payment at the Campus Shop, Learning Resources Center, and Student Center Dining. Buzz Bucks supplements the Meal Plan and Flex Dollars for residential students at campus eateries. For non-residential students, Buzz Bucks is a convenient way to pay for meals and snacks at campus eateries. For non-residential students, Buzz bucks is a convenient way to pay for meals and snacks on campus. Buzz Bucks is also accepted at popular businesses around campus. You or your parents must make a deposit to Buzz Bucks prior to using it for purchases. Value in Buzz Bucks rolls over from semester-to-semester and year-to-year for as long as you are a member of the SUNY Broome Community.
Students living in the residence hall are required to purchase at a minimum, the 10 meals per week meal plan. The meal plan is only accepted at Student Center Dining. Payment is made at the beginning of each semester along with tuition and other fees. Larger meal plans are also available. In addition, each suite has a full kitchen, including refrigerator/freezer, stove/oven and microwave. Meal Plans do not roll over.
All Meal Plans have some Flex Dollars included. Flex Dollars are similar to cash value available on meal plans and are accepted at all campus dining locations. Flex Dollars roll over from the fall to spring semester but not to the next academic year.
